  Historic Oakland, Oregon, located 20 miles north of Roseburg on

         Highway 99, provides a glimpse into Oregon's past. This tiny hamlet is Oregon's first historic district recognized by the National Register of Historic Places. The district includes over 130 properties. Oakland has one of Oregon's best groups of brick storefronts from the 1890s, and many of the buildings are labeled with their vintage and former use. In the downtown area there are also antique stores, curio shops, and art galleries to browse through.
