Yoncalla is in a small valley called Yoncalla Valley. It was famous for many years as being the home of the Applegate brothers. The valley and the town were named for the prominent, bald Mount Yoncalla to the northwest, which was known by the Indians as Yoncalla Oregon the home of the eagles.
